The Sayner-Star Lake area is an ideal place for bikers with many quiet roads that connect with forest roads in the Northern Highland/American Legion State Forest, Razorback Ridges, and paved bike trails to the town of Boulder Junction.
Hiking & XC Skiing – Nature trails are marked and located throughout the county. In the immediate area are the Fallison Lake trail, the Star Lake Plantation trail, Shannon Lake trail, Langley Lake, the Lumberjack trail and the Escanabe-Pallette Lake trail. Maps are available from the Sayner-Star Lake Chamber. Many unmarked trails and logging roads also make possibilities endless.
Razorback Ridges – Very scenic 12 miles of cross country skiing in the winter and 30 miles of mountain bike trails the rest of the year. The system is maintained by the Sayner – Star Lake Lions Club and the trailhead is at McKay’s Corner Store. The ski trails are groomed for classic and skate skiing for skiers of all abilities. Razorback Ridges are in close proximity to three major campgrounds with direct access to the trail system and the Boulder Area Trail System (BATS). Mountain bike races are held in the spring and fall at Razorback Ridges.
